Metadata and reporting requirements for environmental and biodiversity related reports

1. Introduction

Purpose

This document outlines metadata requirements for environmental and biodiversity related reports. The goal is to ensure alignment with Equinor requirements and our data delivery standards. These standards aim to facilitate robust environmental accounting and reporting.

Scope

This document covers the metadata that shall follow reports either delivered as the sole delivery or where the report is a partial delivery.

2. Meta data requirements

The Metadata ensures automated upload to Equinor internal portal for environmental and biodiversity related reports.

Note: The metadata requirements described below are documentation that shall follow the report’s properties, not delivered as part of the document content itself.

You can use the following sample XMP content. Save it as
‘custom_metadata.xmp’.

Explanation of the Custom Fields:

custom:country: The country related to the project.

custom:projectName: The name of the project.

custom:plNumber: The PL number.

custom:eqNumber: The EQ number.

custom:reportName: The name of the report.

custom:region: The region associated with the project.

custom:geographicalLocation: Specific geographical location details.

custom:documentType: Type of the document.

custom:eiaoptions: Environmental Impact Assessment options. (Required when Environmental Impact Assessment is selected in Document Type)

custom:seabedsurvey: Details about the seabed survey. (Required when Visual and acoustic seabed surveys is selected in Document Type)

custom:surveyYear: The year of the survey.

custom:vendor: The name of the vendor.


2.2 Steps to Upload XMP Metadata to a PDF

Using Adobe Acrobat Pro

  1. Open Adobe Acrobat Pro:

    Launch the application on your computer.

  2. Open Your PDF:

    Go to File > Open and select the PDF file you want to add metadata to.

  3. Access the Additional Metadata:

    Click on File > Properties.

    Click on the Additional Metadata button.

  4. Import the XMP File:

    In the Additional Metadata dialog, look for an option to import or add XMP metadata.

    Navigate to the location where you saved your .xmp file.

    Select the file and import it.

  5. Save the PDF:

After importing the XMP metadata, click OK to close the dialog.

Save the PDF by going to File > Save.

3. Reporting Format and Delivery Requirements

This section outlines the report naming convention, delivery location and report content.
If relevant, also country specific requirements shall be applied in addition to the specified format.

The reports are to be delivered in accordance with the following file naming convention:

<Asset>_<Survey Type>_<Vendor>_<Contract No>_<Date>

Report:

  • Include objectives, methods, findings, and geospatial visualizations.
    Deliver in PDF format.
